Spunky commander Berit Turner is known for two things: his huge libido and his lack of a filter―he says what he thinks. Berit sets his mind on being part of a mission to Ligador to make sure the planet is habitable for humans. He’s ecstatic when his team is assigned to the task force. A delegation of Nadisc, a humanoid alien race, accompanies them, and passion ignites between Berit and their commanding officer, Tom. Kyan ran. His legs burned, his chest was tight and the fear that clogged his throat was so completely overwhelming that he just knew at any minute his entire body would give out on him. The heavy rain pelted down hard, and his small stature, with hardly any muscle or bulk of any form, quivered from the strain. He pushed himself through the pain, refusing to give up. The abhorrent idea of allowing the monsters that chased him, to catch up, was the only thing that kept him moving. That, and the small flutter he felt in his stomach. The reminder that he was not only running for his own life, but that of his unborn child’s. Even now, with the small protrusion in his lower abdomen, the thought almost sent him careening off course.
Pregnant! How could a man be pregnant? It just shouldn’t be possible.
Kyan swiped his auburn hair out of his face, so that he could see better. The normally spiky locks hung plastered to his forehead by sweat and rain.
“There he is. Get him!” One of the many voices that had taunted him for the last hour, shouted.
Alarm shot through him when he realized just how close they had gotten to him. A whimper broke free as he darted his way through the thick foliage and branches that stuck out and cut through his skin. He almost lost his footing over a protruding tree root, but luckily he was able to leap at the last moment, landing firmly on his two feet.
Just as he regained his stride, a heavy mass ploughed into his side, sending him careening to the ground. He barely had enough time to twist so as not to fall onto his stomach. His entire frame ached, and all he could do was curl up into a ball, protecting himself and his child as much as possible.
“Please,” he begged. “God, please.”
“Shhh,” came a vicious hiss from above him. Firm hands clamped down hard on him as he attempted to shrug them off. “Do you want them to find us? Keep still and be quiet.”
He froze at the menacing yet familiar voice, and only then became aware that at some stage he must have closed his eyes. Prying them open, Kyan stared at the hulking man above him in shock, confusion and not a little bit of fear.
A hand quickly covered his mouth as Blaise growled. “For the love of god, Kyan. Shut. Up.”

I knew the moment John walked into the bar. It was like my sonar pinged, my radar lit up—you name it. I heard the door open, and without turning around, I knew it was him because the hair on the back of my neck stood up. Because something in my gut tightened, and my cock lifted in earnest. I watched him in the mirror as he scanned the room, locked in on my presence, and stalked toward me like a panther in a pen full of sheep. Everyone else in the room was aware of him as well. I practically preened when he came up beside me. He took a seat and signaled the bartender, who came over with flattering attention.

1-Welcome Sarah Madison! Please tell us a bit about yourself and your release.

I live in a small rural area in the South, so I’ve spent most of my life buried in books. Think Belle from Disney’s animated Beauty and the Beast. That’s me singing, “There must be more than this provincial life!” The only men I met could have been Gaston’s brothers. Somehow I met a British ex-pat who’s also an English Lit major, so I got my happily ever after despite the odds

Truth and Consequences is book 3 in the Sixth Sense series. It features FBI Agents Jerry Lee Parker and John Flynn, and the events that occur when Flynn accidentally touches a mysterious artifact and gains unusual powers. As the Sixth Sense series unfolds, we learn there is a set of such boxes, and that Lee and John aren’t the only ones looking for them. They’re in over their head, and the water is just getting deeper…

2-How long have you been writing?

I used to write and illustrate my own stories as a child. In middle school, I wrote a very popular series of adventures that featured a trio of horse-crazy girls that solved mysteries out of their barn. I used to have to keep a waiting list for that one! In high school I spent hours writing fanfic, although I didn’t know that was what it was called. When I graduated and went to college, for some reason I decided this meant I should ‘put away childish things’, including any dreams of being a writer. For 20 years I kept my creative side in a vault, scarcely acknowledging its existence.

One day, a friend introduced me to online fanfiction archives for a favorite show. I read everything I could get my hands on, and then tentatively began writing my own fanfic. A million words later, I submitted my first original story for publication. I’ve never looked back. J

3-What compelled you to write this particular story?

When I wrote the first story in the Sixth Sense series, Unspeakable Words, I had a much larger story arc in mind—I knew there was too much story for me to tell in one, even two novels. For a while there, however, I chickened out. I wasn’t sure I could pull of the story arc I had in mind, and I considered even dropping the paranormal aspect of things. Finally I realized that the paranormal plotline was exactly what distinguished the Sixth Sense series from every other FBI story out there. Once I re-committed to the original plan, I went for broke!

4-What gave you the courage to submit your story to a publisher?

Well, I’d been writing fanfic for nearly four years, and my beta readers kept telling me I should write and submit original stories. By this point, I’d racked up over a million words of fanfic—and on a whim, I submitted a story for publication. I never expected to be offered a contract! In fact, my initial reaction was to jerk the story back and declare it wasn’t ready yet! Fortunately, I didn’t cave into my fear. Much to my surprise, I kept writing stories and they kept getting contracted, so here we are.

5-When creating your characters, do you have models in mind or are they totally fictional?

I usually have some rough model in my mind. Sometimes just a photograph. Sometimes an actor who played a particular role. The fascinating part of the process for me is watching the character grow and become his or her own person out of the original scaffolding I laid down. I definitely have a type, and am drawn to certain kinds of characters more than others.

6-Why did you start writing m/m? Is there something special that draws you to this genre?

When I first stumbled upon slash fanfiction, I felt as though I’d finally discovered adult romantic fiction for the first time. There was so much about it appealed to me. I loved the fact that my two favorite characters were involved in a relationship were they met as equals. Both characters got to do the ‘cool’ things, they each took turns being the one that needed rescuing or being the vulnerable one. There was none of the imbalances I found in typical romantic fiction, not to mention protagonists I could actually identify with! Less purple prose as well, with sex scenes that aren’t filled with euphemisms, but feel real.

As I segued into writing M/M fiction, I realized there were many other reasons why I identified with the genre. Though I’m a straight woman, I know what it is like to be discriminated against because of my gender and my beliefs. I know what it is like to have to hide who I really am, in order to fit into a society where I feel less and less comfortable with each passing year. I have never met a homophobe who wasn’t also racist and misogynistic. Though I am only an ally to the GLBTQ community, I think that if all the minority and disenfranchised people stand together, our vote will carry the day.

7-What are you reading right now? Do you have a favorite author or genre?

At the moment, I’m doing a fair amount of research for the story I’m working on, which is set in the 1950s. I tend to bounce back and forth between reading mysteries and sci-fi/fantasy. I adore the classics of the Golden Age of Mystery—Agatha Christie, Dorothy Sayers, Ngaio Marsh. I think Sayers is my favorite author—I’m a huge fan of Lord Peter Wimsey.

8-What are you working on now?

My current WIP is a bit of a departure for me. It’s about a female agent working for a secret bureau within the CIA created at the end of WW2 to investigate a series of paranormal events that seem to be associated with the advent of nuclear testing. She’s sent to recruit a British scientist to join the agency, and then the pair of them are assigned to work undercover as husband and wife in a subdivision where some of the events have been recorded. By day, they have to play at being Ward and June Cleaver, whereas at night, they become Mulder and Scully. I’m not sure it will have an audience, but I’m having great fun with it just the same!

9-When you're not writing, how do you like to spend your time?

I wish I had more free time—I frequently have to choose between writing and doing something else I love. I take the dogs hiking, and I enjoy photography. Both of my horses are retired from competition now, but I still enjoy riding. It hasn’t been a good day unless I spend at least part of it outdoors.

10-What are your writing goals for 2015?

Argh. 2015 is almost over, and I’d like very much to have a rough draft done of my 50s story. I’d like to write more in the Crying for the Moon universe—Nick and Peter need their own story, and Alex and Tate have more adventures to come as well! I have a M/M Regency I’m working on, and of course, I need to write the next installment in the Sixth Sense series!

11-Do you have personal goals for 2015?

I’ve been struggling with feeling a bit overwhelmed. I think I need to spend less time on social media and more time living my life. One of the things I’ve been doing to help me focus on the positives in my life is to jot down three things every day that I’m grateful for. It’s been interesting to see how my attitude is slowly changing for the better the longer I keep it up.
